ISO Institute Founded on February 23, 1947, the ISO Institute sets the world's industrial and commercial standards. ISO was originally formed to create and introduce international standardization for anything.

Standards that we are familiar with include standards for types of photographic film, phone card sizes, bank ATM cards, paper sizes and thicknesses and others.

A-SERIES

In the engineering world, the drawing paper used types A which has standardized length and width sizes. The drawing paper used has normalized sizes. The most widely used size is the A-series.

Series A has standard sizes which are indicated by affixing 0 (zero) after the letter A, and smaller sizes by affixing the numbers 1 to 4. The standard size, namely A0, has an area of 1 square meter, with a ratio of length to width. as √2:1 .

the another paper size is obtained by dividing the previous two sizes. For example, A3 size has half A2 size, and so on. To read the paper size, the image on the long side is placed horizontally. Except for A4 size paper, the long side is placed vertically.

The size of the drawing paper from the A series can be used as a basic reference, the paper is type A0. This A0 paper has a length of 1189 mm and a width of 841 mm (1189x841). For the size of the derivative, for example, A1-A4 only uses the ratio of the sides of the square to the diagonal.

Paper size type

If a square has sides = x, then its diagonal is y = x√2. Then x is used as the width of the drawing paper and y as the length of the drawing paper.

To get another drawing paper size is to divide the length by two, so the size:

1) A1 is ½ of A0.

2) A2 is ½ of A1.

3) A3 is ½ of A2.

4) A4 is ½ of A3.

Borders on Technical Drawing Paper

The borderline on the drawing paper can be clarified in the table below, for the part of the image to be bound has a border distance of 15 mm applies to all types of paper. then for the C border is 15 mm and 10 mm, 15 mm for paper sizes A0 and A1 and 10 mm for other paper.
